Venue-Eagle Ridge Resort, Galena IL
The wedding ceremony and reception will be held at the Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, IL. This is an inclusive resort with onsite accommodations (hotel rooms and AirBnB type houses), a few restaurants, a spa, a free shuttle service around the area, and many more amenities which will be detailed below.
Stay
We highly encourage all guests to stay onsite at Eagle Ridge Resort. The resort has hotel rooms in and around the main venue building as well as over 100 rental homes to choose from ranging from 1 bedroom to 8, with a free shuttle service! All bookings at the resort are a two night minimum. Guests will receive a discounted room rate if they book by calling the venue and stating they are with the Smalley wedding. You will not receive this discount if you book online. We also encourage guests that know one another to consider booking a house together (10 people sharing a 5 bedroom home is the most cost effective). The pricing with wedding discount is attached below. If you don't want to stay onsite there are many lovely hotels in downtown Galena, but they are further away and don't have free shuttle services.
Eat
The venue has 3 onsite restaurants (two in the main venue) and a country store for snacks and drinks. Galena also offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.
Enjoy
While we are having a winter wedding that doesn't mean you have to stay cooped up! There is lots to do at the resort including a spa and golf simulator, and many winter activities in Galena.
Ride
If staying onsite Eagle Ridge offers free 24/7 on demand shuttle services around the Galena Territories (the area around the resort). This service will get you to and from the wedding events as well as anywhere else you'd like to go!
Fly
If you are traveling from afar we recommend flying into either O'Hare International Airport in Chicago (2.5 hour drive from the venue) or Dane County Regional Airport in Madison WI (2 hour drive from the venue). There are also limited flights into the Rockford International Airport (1.5 hour drive to the venue).
Dress Code
The dress code for the wedding will be cocktail attire. This includes dress pants and a jacket over a button down and optionally a tie, a formal jumpsuit, or cocktail style dress. For all outfits we recommended dressing for the weather and layering with a coat, jacket, or shawl as well as opting for a longer dress length. Please wear comfortable shoes for dancing!
Socials and Pictures
Asia and Zane have hired a professional photographer to capture the special day so they ask that you refrain from using your phone during the ceremony as it will be an unplugged ceremony. However, at the reception take all the photos you want as long as you share them!! The share page will allow you to post in real time for all the guest and the bride and groom to see! Asia and Zane also ask that you refrain from posting any photos of the bride and groom on social media until they get a chance to officially announce their marriage (but feel free to share selfies and group pics while you all are dressed up!).
